Get paid for what you know with Minnect

Each month, I issue a challenge to the creative entrepreneurs who are part of the Platform Launchers Members' Club.  These challenges are always geared toward helping the group members develop their online businesses in new ways.  I love it when our members experience success with their platforms as they create new forms of content, build their online authority, and earn income from new revenue streams.

This past month, I challenged our members to earn at least $1.00 from a brand-new revenue source, but I didn't specify what that source should be.  This was completely up to their own ingenuity and creativity.

Some of our members found this challenge exciting.  Some found it confusing.  Others may have found it easy to accomplish, while the rest may have found it to be rather difficult.

What about you?  Is this something you'd find easy or difficult?  If I issued the same challenge to you, do you think you could come up with a new way to earn at least $1.00 through your online platform?

Admittedly, I was curious to see what our group came up with, but now that we're at the end of the month, I want to suggest an idea (and a tool) that I recently implemented into my arsenal of online income streams.  It's very much an experiment at this point, but even while I experiment with it, I wanted to share more about it with you in case you might find it helpful as well.

The new tool that I'm referring to is an app called Minnect.  Maybe you've heard of it and maybe you haven't, but it's a really simple concept that I think has the potential to be a game changer for many online creators.

The word Minnect is a blend of two common words; "minute" and "connect."  The idea is to bring people together for a short period of time so that wisdom can be exchanged between them.

If you're using the Minnect app as a consumer, all you need to do is download it and find an expert on the platform that you'd like to connect with.  Once you find that person, you can review how much they charge per minute for you to connect with them and decide if that’s an amount you’re willing to pay.

This is a really interesting coaching solution because it may give you the opportunity to speak directly with some high-level people in your industry without breaking the bank.  It's an affordable way for any of us to get coaching from all kinds of people.

From the business owner or coach's standpoint, this can also be a great option for developing a new revenue stream.  This is particularly true if you'd like to offer more coaching but you don't already have in place an easy system for managing and charging clients.  It's also a great tool for getting discovered by people who need the wisdom you can offer, but aren't yet familiar with your personal platform or website.

When I learned about Minnect, I thought, "I definitely need to give this a try!"  I already offer online coaching through my own platform, and I plan to do so for a long time, but I'm convinced that Minnect can help me connect with a new pool of people who want to learn the kind of things I'm able to teach them OR who may desire to hear my perspective on what they're currently doing and how they're doing it.

It has only been a few short days since I created a profile on Minnect and started making my services available on their platform, so admittedly, I need to give this new service time to work before I can give a full assessment of its effectiveness.  But even in this early stage, I can definitely see its potential.

If you're interested in giving Minnect a try, let me offer a few additional suggestions.

• 1.  Most of the income any of us will make online will be directly related to the authority we establish.  Authority is established through visibility, integrity, and track record, so please continue to establish your online authority if you'd like to be paid for coaching.
• 2.  I also think we need to treat Minnect or any similar service as a supplement to what we're already doing, not a direct replacement.  Minnect is still getting established, and we can't expect it to do all the work when it comes to helping us connect with potential coaching clients.  That's something we need to remain actively invested in.
• 3.  The kind of tool Minnect has created is becoming more and more common, particularly in the coaching or counseling space.  Another example that I'm seeing online is a service called Better Help.  Better Help is an online counseling service that connects clients with counselors, and it seems to be more affordable than some of the traditional counseling options.

Going forward, I'm going to keep experimenting with Minnect and see where it leads.  At the same time, I'm going to continue offering online coaching through my own platforms while doing my best to remain as visible as possible in the online space.
